Пел в спектаклях вместе с И.В.Ершовым, Л.В.Собиновым. Особенно прославился в операх Р.Вагнера, в частн. в оп.-тетралогии «Кольцо нибелунга» (партия Вотана). Среди др. партий: Сусанин («Жизнь за царя» М.И.Глинки), Собакин («Царская невеста» Н.А.Римского-Корсакова), Рене («Иоланта» П.И.Чайковского), Марсель («Гугеноты» Дж. Мейербера), Мефистофель («Фауст» Ш.Гуно), Дон Базилио («Севильский цирюльник» Дж. Россини), Рамфис («Аида» Дж. Верди) и др. В нач. 1920-х гг. уехал из России.
